Product description
Part of the LEGO Learning System, SPIKE Prime engages Key Stage 3 and upper primary pupils in hands-on exploration of STEAM concepts while developing critical thinking, data analysis and complex problem-solving skills. Curriculum-aligned learning units use real-world engineering and computer science challenges to help students systematically analyse data, break down complex problems and design creative solutions.
SPIKE Prime combines Scratch-based Word Block and text-based Python coding with versatile Technic hardware—including a 6-port Programmable Hub, high-torque Angular Motors, Distance, Force and Colour Sensors—to bring advanced robotics to life. Pupils iterate through engineering design cycles while collaborating with peers on group challenges. Flexible built-in scaffolding and comprehensive unit plans enable teachers to confidently lead secondary robotics and prepare competition teams for FIRST® LEGO® League.
Units
LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime comes with 5 core curriculum unit plans plus an extensive library of supplementary activities, each including 30–45 minute lessons with maths and language arts extensions, providing over 50 hours of fully-planned learning activities out of the box!

LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime is designed for pupils aged 10+ (Key Stage 3 and upper Key Stage 2). It is tailored specifically for middle and secondary school computing, robotics and Design & Technology curriculums.
SPIKE™ Prime supports both Scratch-based Word Blocks and text-based Python programming. Students can start with intuitive drag-and-drop block coding and seamlessly transition to industry-standard Python text coding within the same LEGO® Education SPIKE™ App.
The optimal classroom ratio is two pupils per SPIKE™ Prime kit. This 2:1 student-to-kit ratio ensures both pupils remain fully engaged in collaborative building, problem-solving and hands-on programming during 45-minute lessons.
